Mid-Michigan ASTD Annual Meeting and Program
Happy New Year!
Mid-Michigan ASTD wants to start of 2014 with a bang! With this in mind, we have moved the annual meeting to January. Join us on Thursday, January 30, 5:30 – 7:30p, at Christie’s Bistro in the Crowne Plaza Hotel for dinner, meeting, and a program.
This year’s annual meeting will focus on not only announcing last month’s election results and welcoming new folks, but also sharing results of the Board’s recent strategic planning retreat. We want to introduce you to the chapter’s new mission and vision, and the new core values.
The evening’s program will feature Marci Miller, our chapter’s Vice President for Education, as she leads us through the newly revised ASTD Competency Model. With Marci’s help, we will explore what the model is, how it applies to you as a learning/training professional, and how you can use the model in mapping your own professional development.
The Model is used to:
· Define the latest competencies needed for success across the training and development industry
· Provide a professional development roadmap for leaders and practitioners
· Identify skills gaps and ways to close them and align to individual and organizational goals
The Model emphasizes foundational competencies and specific areas of expertise which are the specialized knowledge and actions required by specific roles.
