Stress is a physical and/or emotional reaction to a situation. In a work context, stress happens when we believe that the demands made of us exceed our resources to deal with them. However, work stress is about much more than demands. It's rooted in context around those demands.

Marcus Fila, M.B.A., M.Sc., Ph.D. is a speaker, researcher, and management consultant on work stress and its effects on strain, motivation, commitment, and turnover. He is also an Associate Professor of Management at Hope College. Marcus helps leaders understand root causes of work stress and unwanted turnover, their manifestations on the organization’s mission and financial health; and offers research-based training, assessments, and interventions.
