This is a two part series in which participants will learn about how and when grief can occur, particularly due to the pandemic. In the first session, the presenter will share four tools which can be used to facilitate individual self-reflection exercises to identify and process grief. The second session will include applying the four tools toward facilitating a conversation with someone else who is processing grief and identifying ways in which this skill can be used in our workplaces. Ideally, participants should register for both sessions. Watch this video to learn more.

Session 1: Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 5 pm

Focus of the event will be identifying and processing grief/loss from the pandemic for yourself.

Session 2: Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 5 pm

Focus of the event will be identifying and processing grief/loss from the pandemic for yourself.

Focus of the event will be how to facilitate conversations with others experiencing loss (so that we can have these conversations in our personal lives or at work).

Presenter:  Liz Freedman

Liz is an Instructional Designer at BDO in Grand Rapids. Prior to working in the learning and development field, she worked in higher education for ten years. During that time, she volunteered for an organization devoted to childhood grief where she learned useful tools for facilitating a conversation with someone who is grieving. From there, she published articles and presented at several conferences on "academic grief", something that often occurred for the students she advised who were not admitted to highly competitive academic programs. In her spare time, she enjoys writing non-fiction and spending time with her husband, twin 5 year-old daughters, and their boxer, Ruby.
