Empowering Questions

Tony Datema, Atlas EPS

Empowering questions increase engagement within your teams and creates an environment where solutions become the focus. Each of you walk away with an awareness of the two main pitfalls leaders fall into when using empowering questions and how to guide your leaders to know when to use empowering questions. A handout will be provided to help you illustrate what you have learned.

Hello Best Self! Engagement in Work + Life

Jenn Hance, Service Express

Contrary to popular definition, strengths aren’t things we do well, and weaknesses aren’t actually things we do poorly. In this high-level introduction to strengths-based living, participants will learn about the top five signs of strength engagement and, utilizing an adaptation of a Gallup Strengths tool, participants will work through a self-reflection activity on how they engage their “best self” daily.

Building Immersive Learning Environments

Tom Koziol, Expectancy Learning

How can we leverage new technologies and concepts from and pop culture sites like social networking, YouTube, and Buzzfeed to support learning? Join Tom as he shares examples of learning “environments” that illustrate leveraging different technologies and new social norms to support experiential learning and performance in new and exciting ways.

Keeping Instructional Design Relevant in Today's Learning World

Emily Kuiper, SDI Clarity

With the proliferation of technology... the generational turnover in the workforce... and the shorter attention span of today’s learner – how does instructional design remain relevant? In this session, we will discuss how instructional design principles may be applied to create a variety of non-traditional learning assets, supporting new and ever-evolving ways people learn.

Destination: Flash Conversion

Tom Petro, Innovative Learning Group

Flash is currently being blocked by some browsers, and it's going away completely by the end of 2020.  Now is the time to act, but where do you begin? Tom will take you on a journey using a roadmap that illustrates the steps you need to know when dealing with your Flash conversion projects.

Personal Trainers Don't Sweat!  How to Make Learning Stick by Doing Less

Shariem Saterfield, Farmers Insurance

Learning is a choice, but too often, training professionals take complete ownership of knowledge transfer. Understanding content should be the goal of the learner, not the trainer! In this session, you will be provided with techniques and tips that will help you to increase learner knowledge and decrease facilitator fatigue by turning the tables on how content is delivered and skills are demonstrated.

Learning and Performance Trends: A Conversation

Lisa Toenniges, Innovative Learning Group

Lisa will lead a conversation about trends in the learning and performance space. Together, the group will address the following questions: What’s a common definition of the trend? What have you read?  What have you heard? What have you tried that worked or didn’t work? Trends Lisa will cover include adaptive learning, agile, AR/VR, curation, microlearning, and design thinking.
