Effective Online Learning Design

Participants will learn about:

  1. Personalization of online learning
  2. Engagement through activity variation
  3. Instructional models for online learning

This presentation will provide an overview of three unique online course offerings from MVU. A background and overview of each course will be provided, followed by an in-depth discussion and demonstration of the key features of each course, including personalized learning opportunities, consistent variation in learning activities, and unique instructional models to support online learning.

About the presenter:
           
David Young, Senior Instructional Designer
Michigan Virtual University              

David Young is Senior Instructional Designer at Michigan Virtual University where he designs and develops online high school courses for Michigan Virtual School and online professional development courses for Michigan LearnPort. Prior to joining MVU he worked as a K-12 technology coordinator and a high school math teacher in both face to face and online classrooms. David attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI where he received a B.S. in Mathematics with minors in Physics and Secondary Education and he also holds M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees in Educational Technology and Instructional Design from the University of Florida.
